Food St. JosephLuisa Del Giudice has published and lectured widely and is internationally known for her work on Italian and Italian American and Canadian folklife, ethnology, and oral history: from food and wine (e.g., gastronomic utopias, wine culture and the cantina, history of pasta, food altars), material culture and belief (Sabato Rodia’s Watts Towers, Toronto’s archvillas, St. Joseph’s Day Tables), oral expressions, especially song (ballads, lullabies, neo-tarantismo, folk revival movements), to children’s literature (Tomie de Paola), and oral history (Archaeology and Horace’s Villa in Licenza, Italian Americans), and local history (Italian Los Angeles). She has organized many national and international academic conferences of significance, several of which have resulted in publications she has edited.
