Beijing Circle AltarLuisa Del Giudice is committed to spiritual and compassionate social action. She actively supports many causes, among them food justice and the homeless, women’s rights, indigenous rights, and cultural equity.  She was trained as a spiritual director engaged in “deep listening” to sacred stories and to the discernment process, in the “Art of Spiritual Direction” from Stillpoint Center for Christian Spirituality and was a member of SDI – Spiritual Directors International for many years. She is a long-time parishioner of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Westwood, served on the Diaconal Committee and the Peace and Justice Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, as well as on a variety of boards and commissions devoted to discernment, interfaith peace and justice, social equity. Together with the Rev’d. Joanne Leslie (former professor of Public Health at UCLA), she formed and directed Los Angeles’ first “Beijing Circle” addressing the Beijing Platform for Action (cf. 1985 Women’s World Congress) as well as the UN Millennium Development Goals—which disproportionately affect women globally—and works for positive change in our own communities. She has lead workshops, organized spiritual programs and retreats, and serves her various faith and spiritual communities in a variety of ways.
